Manchester Unitedโs pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo has hit another roadblock, as Brentford have turned down their latest improved offer. The Red Devils had tabled a bid worth up to ยฃ62.5 million in total for the 25-year-old winger, hoping to secure his services ahead of the new season. The offer included an upfront payment of ยฃ55 million, with an additional ยฃ7.5 million in performance-based add-ons.
This wasnโt Unitedโs first attempt to land the talented Cameroon international. Earlier in the month, the club had proposed a deal structured at ยฃ45 million with a further ยฃ10 million in add-ons. That initial bid was swiftly rejected, and the new offer seems to have met a similar fate. Brentford appear to be standing firm on their valuation of one of their star performers.
Manchester United are actively trying to bolster their attacking options this summer. The club recently finalized a ยฃ62.5 million deal for Brazilian striker Matheus Cunha from Wolves, signaling their intent to add firepower to their front line. With Mbeumo in their sights, United see him as a dynamic addition who could bring pace, creativity, and goals to Erik ten Hagโs setup.
According to close sources, Brentford are unlikely to part ways with Mbeumo unless the offer meets or exceeds the amount Wolves received for Cunha โ and they expect most of it to be paid up front. Given that Mbeumo still has a year left on his current deal, the club holds a strong negotiating position and is in no rush to sell.
Bryan Mbeumo is coming off an outstanding season, having netted a personal best of 20 goals while also providing nine assists. Unsurprisingly, his form has attracted attention beyond Old Trafford. Tottenhamโs newly appointed manager, Thomas Frank โ who previously worked with Mbeumo โ is reportedly eager for a reunion. Several Champions League sides are also said to be monitoring the forwardโs situation, potentially setting the stage for a bidding war as the transfer window progresses.
